Today I was booked for a 10 AM guided tour of Victoria Tunnel in Newcastle but, as you may have guessed from the title, that did not happen.
I woke up at around 5 AM with an upset stomach that required a couple of visits to the bathroom and decided that going on a 75 minute tour of a disused coal tunnel with no facilities was probably not wise. Instead I had toast for breakfast and hung around in my hotel room until 11 o’clock when I had to check out. I then drove directly to my destination, an inn in Hardraw within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, stopping only for lunch to top up my meagre breakfast. I was feeling fine by the time I arrived and had enjoyed some scenic driving during the second half of my journey. In fact, the last few miles, driving over Buttertubs Pass, was as scenic as anywhere I have been on this trip. No place to stop for photos but the road video is worth checking out.
Hope you feel much better now and can enjoy coming days. Always remember the Buttertubs from family holidays in Yorkshire.. and walking behind the Hardraw Falls.
Better today, thanks. Buttertubs is impressive but didn’t see the Hardraw falls.
Hope you are feeling better
Thank you. All OK now.
