Final thoughts on my first UK road trip

Road video and map (from July 20)

I wasn’t sure if a US style road trip would work well in the UK and I will need to make some changes next time. I tried to visit most of the scenic areas north of my base in Northampton (except the Scottish islands) and succeeded in that but, although I got an impression of each area, it felt very rushed and I would concentrate on two or three areas if there is a next time. I am glad that I got to see so much wonderful scenery and some impressive cities that have been on the to-do list for some time. I definitely enjoyed spending time with a number of friends along the way and my anxiety about the unpredictable weather in the UK was unjustified as it did not interfere with my plan in any significant way.

Unfortunately, no scenic views are visible on the final road video as its simply the drive back to Northampton. Also, I don’t have the usual statistics for the trip as I did not record or blog the whole thing but, according to the car, I drove about 1,923 miles.

Thank you for reading, commenting or otherwise interacting. I enjoy knowing that people are with me, at least in spirit, when I’m on the road alone. Hoping to actually drive the fall trip I planned but failed to make the past two years.
