More magnificent driving

I had expected Scotland to be scenically splendid and, so far, it has given me wonderful driving (if a little scary at times on the one lane roads). Today was a another special journey from Fort William to Lochcarron passing through great landscapes almost all the way. The weather today was mainly overcast with low clouds but it stayed dry and the temperature was pleasantly warm.

The driving was, again, the focus of the day but I did take a break to visit Attadale Gardens on the eastern side of Loch Carron. Given the location I did not expect it to be the traditional, formal British garden and I was pleasantly surprised to find it to be more of a curated forest area than a garden.

I’m sorry not to have more fascinating places to tell you about but this section of the trip is all about the driving for me. The weather did deprive me of one planned stop at the Bealach na Bà pass view point. It is approached along a twisting, single lane road (with passing points) that climbs towards the pass. When I was about 4 miles from the viewpoint I could see that the road disappeared into the low clouds ahead. I figured there would be no view today and I certainly didn’t want to drive a one lane road in the fog so I gave up after taking the picture of Loch Carron below.
