I knew that the western half of the northern border would have the fewest sights to visit and anticipated some heavy driving days as a result. Today was the first of these as I drove from International Falls to Minot in North Dakota, about 420 miles.
I considered heading north of the border and using the Trans-Canada Highway to speed things up but I have already driven that from Winnipeg to British Columbia and highway driving is often very boring. By staying on county and state roads I am driving through communities and past farms and factories so I always have something to look at. In these sparsely populated areas there is little traffic and, with my lead foot, I have been able to make good time. It also allows me to stay closer to the border.
No photos today but you can follow my progress on the map and video here. I highlighted a few things that caught my eye but there is nothing spectacular to view and most of the journey is highly accelerated to condense nearly seven hours of driving into a YouTube video.
First time viewing your blog. Really interesting and the photos are fantastic. Will be following you regularly from now on.
Thanks for reading. I’ll try to keep it interesting.
