Map and road video – Lévis to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, QC
When I arrived in Levis (just outside Quebec City) yesterday it was sunny and 80 F (27 C) so I was surprised when I left the hotel this morning in blustery winds and rain with a temperature of 45 F (7 C). I had checked the forecast on Sunday and the week looked good but something obviously changed.
After a great breakfast I wasted an hour at a local mall with about 8 phone company kiosks trying to get a prepaid SIM card to use in Canada. Only Virgin Mobile would accept a non-Canadian credit card and, when the sales person tried to activate it, the system crashed. C’est la vie.
I abandoned any ideas of a photo stop and drove the three hundred miles along the St. Lawrence river to where the scenic part of the Gaspé peninsular drive begins in wet, windy weather. The good part is that I’m at a great motel with a good restaurant so I don’t have to go out again but, unfortunately, I may not be blessed with great weather the next few days.
The one photo I took is from the door of my motel room. The river is about 20 miles wide here but is only 50 yards from my door.
