Road map and video<\/a> (only from my hotel to the airport)<\/p>\n\n\n\nToday was our first day in Memphis. After picking up Rita and Christian at the airport we drove to our downtown condo rental, parked and walked around the Beale Street entertainment area getting our bearings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of my all-time favorite songs is Walking in Memphis by Marc Cohn and we lived this, walking on Beale Street and Union Avenue. We also visited the Memphis Rock ‘n Soul Museum<\/em> which was an excellent introduction to the history and culture of music in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\nMemphis made guitar used by Eric Clapton in the Rock ‘n Soul Museum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nAt the Elvis Statue on Beale Street<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nAfter a gumbo lunch we checked in and, later, spent the evening at BB Kings Blues Club<\/em> enjoying local cuisine and live music.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Monday, March 25 2024 Road map and video (only from my hotel to the airport) Today was our first day in Memphis.
