I made the 252 mile (406 km) drive from Wichita, KS to Springfield, MO and, on arrival, walked the Springfield Conservation Nature Center&#8217;s &#8220;Long Trail&#8221; before heading to my hotel.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3908\" src=\"http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Springfield-Grass-Fire.jpg\" alt=\"Springfield Grass Fire\" width=\"760\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Springfield-Grass-Fire.jpg 760w, http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Springfield-Grass-Fire-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/>The big excitement when I arrived at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center was a small grass fire that was burning in the parking lot (there are a few flames within the smoke). A fire truck was already on the scene and the fire was quickly doused.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3907\" src=\"http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Springfield-trail-1.jpg\" alt=\"Springfield trail 1\" width=\"760\" height=\"464\" srcset=\"http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Springfield-trail-1.jpg 760w, http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Springfield-trail-1-300x183.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/>The &#8220;Long Trail&#8221;\u00a0 was, in fact, only just over two miles and was mainly in forest except for some boardwalk near the river.
