Road video and map – Gladstone to North Brisbane, QLD<\/a><\/p>\n

Another drive south today with the only tourist stop being at the Australia Zoo<\/em>. This was founded as a reptile park by Bob and Lyn Irwin, parents of the “Crocodile Hunter”, Steve Irwin. Steve invested much of the profits from his TV shows into the zoo and it now occupies over 1,000 acres. The zoo includes the world’s largest animal hospital and dedicates many of its resources to conservation.<\/p>\n

The journey was somewhat slow and frustrating and I only spent a couple of hours here as I mainly visited to see the unusual Australian species that I did not see in the wild – although I’m glad about that in some cases.<\/p>\n

The Cassowary is a large flightless bird that is often called the world’s most dangerous as they are capable of killing an adult if provoked.\"Australia<\/p>\n
