For some reason there is no paved road to the coast directly from Alice Springs (pop 25,000) but from Tennant Creek (pop 3,000)\u00a0 some 500 km\/310 mi north of Alice and that was today&#8217;s drive.<\/p>\n<p>There was not a lot to see along the way except for the <em>Devils Marbles<\/em> which is a scattering of large rock piles that look like they have been carefully arranged and balanced by some powerful being.<\/p>\n<p>One of several rock piles that appear to have been hand placed.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3391\" src=\"http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Devils-Marbles-1.jpg\" alt=\"Devils Marbles 1\" width=\"760\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Devils-Marbles-1.jpg 760w, http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Devils-Marbles-1-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><br \/>\nThis was not a one of the big piles but the people give some idea of the size of the rocks here.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3390\" src=\"http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Devils-Marbles-12.jpg\" alt=\"Devils Marbles 12\" width=\"760\" height=\"545\" srcset=\"http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Devils-Marbles-12.jpg 760w, http:\/\/relativerest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Devils-Marbles-12-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><br \/>\nI&#8217;m not sure I would want to camp here.
