Today was purely travel and was one of the more forgettable days of any of my trips so far. I had not expected great scenery on the journey from Klamath Falls, Oregon to Sparks, Nevada and could not find any stops along the way to interest me but I did plan to take a detour near the end of the route to drive the Pyramid Lake Scenic Byway<\/em>. By late morning, however, the weather had deteriorated once again with low clouds, rain and a little sleet along the way, so I decided it was probably not worth the extra 80 minutes of driving that the scenic byway would have added. You can see the map and video here<\/a> but the video is not inspiring and the most interesting thing that occurs happens during my short introduction.<\/p>\n During my drive in Hells Canyon good views went in and out of my dash-cam frame very frequently and I have thought of an idea that, I hope, will allow me to retain the best shots at slower speeds and speed up the in-between bits semi-automatically in my road videos. If it works it will not only improve the documentation of the trips but also make the daily video editing easier and faster and I am so excited by the improvements that I think are possible that I am taking a pause in the trip for a couple of days to see if I can update the software.<\/p>\n The weather is supposed to improve by Wednesday and a Nevada hotel-casino is the perfect place for a programming pause. I have a great corner room on the 26th floor for about $40 per night with on premise restaurants, bars, swimming pool, hot tub, fitness room and games – it’s almost like working in a high-tech Silicon Valley headquarters \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n No photos today but I hope to be back on the road, with sunny pictures of Lake Tahoe, on Thursday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Monday, Oct 3 Today was purely travel and was one of the more forgettable days of any of my trips so far.
